Elle Fashion Cluedo game

I had the honour to make a Paris fashionweek cluedo boardgame for Elle magazine. This time the suspects are a bunch of well known fashion designer's. The weapons are easily found in any fashion designer's handbag and the locations are all over Paris. You can download the cards and board here. Dutch Design award for Opera

Good news today from Opera. They have been nominated for the Emma children's hospital in the category 'spacial' best interior. It's the interior of the children's hospital were the drawings for the walls were made by Christina Guitan and myself ( see older entry) On the 22dn of Oktober, an international jury will select one winner in each category. Very exciting news indeed. Let's hope Opera walks away with the grand price.

Cookbook Zwitserland

The cookbook is finally out. ( see older entry) I'm very happy with the results and it was a great job to work on.
I had the pleasure to have a nice dinner at Meta Hiltebrands home were she invited me and some of my friends. We had a great dinner and a lovely evening. Back from Zurich

I'm back from the Garagesale exhibition in Zurich. I had a wonderfull time and enjoyed every aspect of it. Thanks to Cassaramona and Donovan Gregory for being such good curators.The people were kind and friendly and very eager to learn about our work. Here are two pics of the exhibitionspace made by Erik Kriek. Maybe next time in Tokio? Who knows. Had great fun with my traveling buddies Leendert Masselink, Ingrid Bockting and Femke Hiemstra.

Before I worked on the cookbook for a few weeks I worked on a pitch for a musical production of the Little Mermaid by Disney and "van de Ende stage entertainment". I had to make a more mature appealing mermaid an keep a lot of space open for Type and information. Unfortunatly they will use photography. It was a nice experience though to make this kind of a commercial illustration. Maybe next time more luck.

Gaumen Pogo

One of the great jobs I did in the last couple of weeks was providing a cookbook with illustration's. The book is called Gaumenpogo and the chef's name is Meta Hiltebrand. She's from Switzerland and has her own televisionshow and restaurant. It was a great job because the book has only illustration's and I had the privilege to make them all. It was great fun to do and I'm very pleased with the results. The book is not printed yet but here are some pages from the book as a teaser. More examples and info soon. I can't wait till it's printed.

In a few day's i will be in Zurich for the garagesale expo. There will be a lot of other illustrator's and although I will not have a lot of work to show due to the schedule I had for the last few months, it's going to be fun anyway. This month there's an article about "Opera" in the dutch design society magazine. Opera is the interior design studio that did the 'Emma Children's Hospital interior. The illustrations i made for the walls of one of the compartments are nicely visable on the cover of the magazine. ( see older post)

Elle fashion closet

For the " Elle Style Bible" i made an illustration of a closet that was going to be used in a "real life" setting in a Dutch warehouse. Here is the result and the real life situation.
I had to make the illustration before the closet was actually placed in the "Bijenkorf" ( warehouse) filled with fashion items that would be in the style bible. Was a fun job to do

I participated in a "pitch" to do a yoghurt package illustration. It had to have a summer country side feel. The measurements we're quite small and the colours had to be pink.Unfortunately i didn't get the job. Still would very much like tot do a packaging one day.

Thanks to Luis Mendo i was invited to be part of his selection for the poolga application.
Being side by side with great illustrators like Tatsuro Kiuchi ( I'm a big fan of his work) Matthew Taylor ( same here) is a thrill to say the least.

Gainsbourg Biopic

Great! a few of my Gainsbourg portraits became part of the Dutch promotion flyer for the Joan Sfar movie about Gainsbourg life. Can't wait to see it. Maybe there will be a small exebhition with some samples of Joan's illustration work , Hanco Kolk and myself. I'll keep you posted about that.

I received some new studiofriends from Japan the other day. Apparently the pink rabbit is the mascot from a big language school in Japan that went bankrupt this year. It seems the staff were filling their pockets with lots of Yens. That must be the reason why the rabbit is not so popular anymore.

Emma childrens hospital

Just finished a great job for the nursery section of the Emma children's hospital in Amsterdam. You will still see some people walking around and giving the final touches to the interior. The theme of the murals I made was "Hortus Botanicus" I created 8 walls with themes that can be interpreted as botanical themes and parenting themes (or parenthood) as well. For instance
"growing", "admire" and "feed". Through the whole department there are little seeds that look like babies flying around. The little seeds are also printed on transparent foil so they could be placed on the glass doors.
To accompany the flowers and plants I created some characters based on the botanical world.

i love the snow in our street at night. Crispy muffling sounds of people walking. The snow makes the sounds of the street very clear without bouncing back it seems.
